A news reporter in Orlando provides an emotional story of the shooting that killed a colleague; a 9-year-old child was also slain in the gun spree in Orlando.
Luana Munoz of WESH News was seen breaking down and crying on live TV while reporting on the Orlando shooting spree that had occurred earlier that day. The shooting spree killed three people, including Dylan Lyons, a fellow news reporter, and seriously injured two more.
Lyons was going about his business. Keith Moses, a Florida man, was later identified as having shot and killed a woman he knew earlier in the day. Lyons was reporting from the murder scene when Moses resurfaced, shooting and killing him in the midst of his tale.
Moses also injured his critically ill comrade behind the camera. Though they don’t seem to be connected to the suspect, both victims were employed by Spectrum News 13. After learning of Lyons’ passing later that evening, Munoz went to the hospital where he was dying to present her findings.
“All right, I apologize. “It’s really hard to cover,” Munoz said, her voice quivering as she wiped tears from her eyes. At Orlando Regional Medical Center, there is an emotional issue. Since others in this room knew the reporter, his fiancée and I were sharing an embrace. I won’t turn the camera.
She noted on how heartening it is to see media members unite in response to the Orlando shooting spree, describing it as ‘every reporter’s worst fear. “We go home at night fearful that something like this may happen, and that is exactly what happened here,” she went on to say. Lyons was 24-years-old at the time.
“Now we are back at [ORMC], where we have discovered that a colleague reporter died while covering a gunshot. “There are members of his family and fiancée here tonight who are heartbroken,” she said before sending it off to the studio to ‘collect herself.’
The gunman recognized the victim from earlier that day as Nathacha Augustin. Just a few hours later, at 11 a.m., Moses returned to the scene and killed Lyons while injuring his colleague. Following his arrest, Moses was accused of murder; further accusations are still pending.
Unfortunately, the shooting spree in Orlando did not end there. The shooter entered a neighboring house and began his binge shortly after shooting and killing Dylan Lyons. A mother and her 9-year-old daughter were shot inside their home; the mother is in critical condition, but her kid is deceased.
Authorities have not discovered a motive for the killings, and they believe the shooter had no connection to the mother or the 9-year-old child. They are currently evaluating all of the materials, and an investigation is underway to determine what happened. The incident has shocked Orlando.
Moses, who is only 19 years old, has a criminal record that includes a misdemeanor for drug use and suspicions of drug paraphernalia possession from November 2021. According to authorities, he was arrested for severe battery, assault, and grand theft while an adolescent.
“We are devastated by the loss of our colleague and the other lives that were senselessly taken today. During this awful moment, we are thinking of our employees’ families, friends, and coworkers. “We remain optimistic that our other injured colleague will make a full recovery,” Spectrum News said in a statement.
