After their 2007 breakup, Kate Middleton said William “cheapened her image” and that she was “desperately unhappy

William and Kate Middleton, the Prince and Princess of Wales, are among the most powerful couples in the world. One of the most adored members of the Royal Family, Kate and William have been in love since their days as students at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland.

Kate described that initial encounter, which happened because they had similar friends: “I actually went bright red when I met you and scuttled off feeling very shy about meeting you.”

“It took some time for us to get to know each other because William wasn’t there for a good portion of the beginning and wasn’t there since Fresher’s Week.”

The two were merely close friends at first, but one night changed everything, according to the April 2021 documentary The Day Will and Kate Got Married. Kate wooed the Prince with a transparent dress she wore to a student fashion exhibition, and the rest is history.

In the documentary, Katie Nicholl, Vanity Fair’s royal journalist, said, “A switch had been flicked, he suddenly saw her in a different light, and I really believe that was the turning point in their relationship.” Prince William stated, according to The Telegraph, that they were pals for more than a year before things really took off. We simply spent more time together, laughed a lot, and discovered we had similar interests.

They became the centre of attention for the media because of their intense love. Kate even appeared in public with the Royals and brought her family to the Sovereign’s Parade at the Royal Military Academy, where William was present. And the couple broke up in 2007, defying everyone’s expectations that a royal marriage was imminent.

William and Kate insisted that it was beneficial to them since it allowed them to “discover who they are.” According to The Telegraph, Kate even stated that “you can get quite consumed by a relationship when you’re younger.” Following their 2008 reconciliation, William asked Kate to marry him in 2010 while on vacation in Kenya wearing his late mother’s engagement ring.

But lately, a piece from the Mail from 2007 that had been lost for a while came to light and painted a clearer picture of what had transpired during their breakup. Kate thought William was “cheapening her image” by dating different girls and going to parties at London nightclubs. Kate felt embarrassed by William’s actions, and as a result, “harsh words” were exchanged between them, according to royal writers Laura Collins, Katie Nicholl, and Ian Gallagher. According to the source, which Express cited, “it was the first such warning she had dished out over the course of their four and a half-year relationship.”

“Kate had had enough, and they spoke to each other.” Kate confronted William, saying he was ruining her appearance. She has endured years of girls throwing themselves at her partner, which she initially found amusing and even endearing.

Royal specialists claim that neither William nor Kate had total influence over their separation. It turns out that family members were involved in the couple’s relationship, including William’s stepmother Camilla, according to royal analyst Christopher Anderson.

Anderson, the author of William and Kate: A Royal Love Story, asserted in an interview with The Daily Beast that Camilla was the primary reason behind Kate and William’s breakup. “When William and Kate split up, I was in London. Everyone assumed William would ask Kate to marry him at some point, so I was astonished and really stunned. In 2016, Anderson stated, “And then people started telling me that Camilla was behind it.”

Aside from the fact that Kate’s parents generated millions of dollars from their business, Camilla also thought Kate was a bit of “a snob” and inappropriate for William because she was a commoner.

Anderson stated, “She’s an aristocrat; she has always been moving in Royal circles,” in reference to Camilla. She had always considered herself to be the great-grandmother of Edward VII’s mistress, Alice Keppel, and the heir to her estate.

Like Alice Keppel, the Queen Consort also became the future king’s mistress and has always taken pride in her close relationship with the royal family. “She didn’t think Kate was deserving of a place in the Royal Family. The first woman from the working class to be admitted into the Royal Family is Kate. Her mother was a flight attendant, and her ancestors were coal workers.

For all those reasons, Camilla never truly thought that Kate Middleton as a person or the Middleton family as a whole would be deserving of being admitted into the Royal Family, Andersson continued. I was informed both at the time of the split and afterwards that Camilla had essentially whispered in Charles’s ear that it was time to compel William to choose between making a decision or not.

Since then, Charles’ suggestion to William to either commit to Kate or, in a sense, let her free has been publicly affirmed. While Camilla’s motivations for doing that were less than honourable, his may have been. She was the one who started this.

However, other experts assert that Kate’s worry may have been the only reason for the separation. The truth is that we can never be certain of the exact nature of the 2007 relationship between the Prince and Princess of Wales.

But one thing that came up again was how Kate found out about the breakup. Author and royal insider Tina Brown provided fresh information on what transpired on the day the two divorced in her book The Palace Papers.

There are rumours that Kate and William had a “let’s get it over with” phone conversation when Kate was a fashion buyer at the Jigsaw office. Brown described this conversation. Kate left the workplace after the call and went to a nearby parking lot. “She was left in pieces after having to excuse herself from a meeting and pace the parking lot for an hour-long heart-to-heart,” Brown wrote.

According to a former coworker, Kate called William and then left work, never to return. However, she never cried in front of others. Since it’s a really uncommon thing to do, a few individuals took notice. The unidentified colleague told the Mirror, “She had purposefully gone outside to take the call because she didn’t want to be overheard.” They claimed Kate was clearly agitated.

Kate appeared agitated, as though she were having a disagreement, as she paced up and down. She didn’t cry, though. Her strange behaviour made it obvious that she was on the phone with William. She didn’t say anything when she returned to the workplace and vanished for the remainder of the day. Since then, she has not returned to her job.

The statement went on, “She was informed she was sick when someone questioned where she was. She isn’t listed as unwell in the text, though. At the moment, we gave it little thought. However, after all this time, the call was undoubtedly a girlfriend-boyfriend argument.

The fact that the two might work things out is a positive development. William and Kate wed on April 29, 2011, and this year they commemorated their marriage anniversary with lovely family portraits. They make a fantastic couple and are obviously much in love with one another.
