Highlights of the Trump-Harris debate: Trump gets caught in Harris’s traps by lying about abortion and “eating pets

Tuesday night’s first-ever head-to-head debate between former president Donald Trump and Kamala Harris in Philadelphia seemed to go poorly for him. He answered questions ramblingly about the economy, illegal immigration, and abortion, often stepping in when his opponent baited him.

Trump was taken off when the candidates abruptly shook hands to begin the discussion. As soon as it started, Trump veered off topic, discussing things like the size of the crowds at his rallies, Joe Biden’s location, and refuting rumors that Haitian immigrants were consuming pets in Ohio.

Harris, on the other hand, devoted her time to highlighting Trump’s history of racial insults, his shortcomings in the workplace, and his involvement in the Capitol incident. Pop sensation Taylor Swift publicly endorsed Harris shortly after the debate, throwing further setback to Trump’s campaign.

Vice President Kamala Harris did better than Donald Trump in the discussion, inciting and provoking him with the suggestion that rallygoers frequently left early out of “exhaustion and boredom.” In a furious response, Trump insisted that his gatherings were entertainment and made up the story that Harris had to “bus” guests into hers. “People don’t leave my rallies,” he proclaimed.

We are witnessing the largest and most amazing protests in political history. In another contentious remarks regarding immigration, Trump restated a disproven conspiracy theory that claimed Haitian immigrants were stealing domestic pets in Ohio.

Harris, however, made a strong case against abortion, emphasizing how unethical it is to forbid exceptions, even for victims of rape and incest.

Throughout the discussion, Harris refuted Trump’s assertions, corrected his errors, and presented her vision for the future of the United States. She also underlined Trump’s shortcomings and the absence of Republican and military leadership backing. Meanwhile, moderator Linsey Davis corrected Trump on a number of issues as he battled to stay in control.

Insane Trump loses control of the debate in 2024 as Harris concentrates on policy. In what may have been their only in-person meeting, Trump and Harris presented radically divergent outlooks for the future of the United States.

Trump seemed insane and wandered off, while Harris concentrated on policies and had fruitful conversations. The two candidates’ divergent approaches and backgrounds were on full display during the discussion.

Pop sensation Taylor Swift openly supported Kamala Harris following the debate and concluded her Instagram post with the caption, “Taylor Swift, Childless Cat Lady,” a direct reference to Trump’s deputy, JD Vance. Swift, who has sway over younger voters, commended Harris for standing up for her convictions.

Following the debate, SSRS ran a CNN flash poll and found that 45% of registered voters had a favourable opinion of Harris, up from 39% prior to the debate. But in the aftermath, 44% of registered voters had a negative opinion of Harris. On the other hand, attitudes towards Trump stayed mostly stable, with 51% of respondents rating him negatively and 39% favourably.
