Inside Rita Coolidge’s Life, Kris Kristofferson’s Ex-Wife, and Their Tragically Missed Second Child

Rita Coolidge had an amazing career spanning from being a pop idol in the 1970s to coping with her own loss, which included losing a child while she was married to Kris Kristofferson. Even at her advanced years, she never fails to captivate audiences with her timeless grace and beauty.

When Rita Coolidge moved to Memphis in the late 1960s and started providing backing vocals for Delaney and Bonnie Bramlet, that’s when her career really took off.

She became well-known as a vocalist after relocating to Los Angeles, appearing on several iconic recordings and live events in the 1970s. Her self-titled debut album was published by A&M Records in 1971 after her apparent talent secured her a solo contract.

Even though it didn’t initially achieve financial success, it cemented her standing as a well-known musician in the industry. After marrying country music legend Kris Kristofferson in 1973, Coolidge’s career took off.

Combining their skills onstage and in the studio, they rose to become one of the most well-known pairs in the music business. For their duets, “From the Bottle to the Bottom” (1974) and “Lover Please” (1976), the duo won two Grammy Awards.

Notwithstanding their achievements in their careers, they faced substantial obstacles in their partnership. Later, Coolidge addressed their marriage, saying that although she never intended to paint Kristofferson in a bad light, it was clear that they had difficulties. The couple had a daughter, Casey, during their years together, but their relationship was further strained by their problems, most notably the tragic death of their second child.

Their marriage had reached a breaking point by 1980, which led to their divorce. Coolidge elected not to ask for anything in the settlement, instead concentrated on her profession and raising their daughter

In 2016, she remarked on their connection, saying, “Kris and I have a connection, and we laugh at things that no one else gets.” We just share an incomprehensible bond. She smirked and responded, “Never say never,” when asked if they will perform together one more.
