Meghan Markle was given a terrible nickname by Prince Philip
We do not lack knowledge that the connection among the members of the British royal family has always been complex. This family, which is among the most well-known and powerful, has experienced many hardships throughout the years.
There were differing views on Prince Harry’s relationship selection as Meghan Markle was welcomed into the family. Many people thought Meghan wasn’t the perfect match for the adored Prince because she was divorced, but the royal family welcomed her wholeheartedly. Years after the two were married, a royal analyst revealed the moniker that the late Prince Philip gave Harry’s wife, and believe us, it’s not a flattering one.
The moniker alluded to Meghan’s resemblance to Wallis Simpson, the controversial wife of former King Edward VIII, who was also American and divorced when she joined the royal family. Prince Philip allegedly held a negative opinion of Meghan Markle, which was kept a secret until a book that provided intimate knowledge of the royal family was released.
American divorcee Wallis Simpson rose to become the Duchess of Windsor. When King Edward VIII decided to abdicate the throne in December 1936, only one year into his reign, to marry her, she became one of the most controversial royal characters in modern history. Royals were not allowed to marry divorced people at the time, and this prohibition persisted until 2002, three years before then-Prince Charles and Camilla were married.
According to Vogue, because of fears of possible public upheaval following their marriage, King Edward and Wallis Simpson were not allowed to return to Britain without the approval of his brother, the recently minted King George VI.
There were many scandals throughout the couple’s years of exile. Among the others, they were pictured travelling to Nazi Germany at the time and seeing Adolf Hitler while delivering the infamous Nazi salute.
Royal biographer Ingrid Seward provided insight into Prince Philip’s viewpoint in an interview with GB News, indicating that he thought Meghan Markle and Wallis Simpson have a lot in common.
As a result, he gave his grandson’s wife a moniker. “I believe Prince Philip was very perceptive about people and he frequently tried to see the positive aspects of them rather than just the negative,” Seward added.
He used to refer to her as the Duchess of Windsor since he could not help but see the parallels between Meghan and Harry, Edward, and Ms. Simpson. He used to call her DOW, but not in front of her,” she continued. The Duke of Edinburgh was “cautious” about the former Suits actress and her possible influence on the royal family, according to Seward’s book “My Mother and I.”
The Sussexes departed Britain and resigned from their royal responsibilities. They wanted to live a life away from the spotlight and the media, so they moved to sunny California.
But after leaving Harry’s family, the two decided to do a lot of interviews, made a documentary, and Harry wrote a book called Spare in which he gave away a lot of information about the Firm’s members.
Harry is expected to visit the UK for the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games, which includes a liturgy at St. Paul’s Cathedral on May 8, according to Daily Express. Meghan will not be going with him. Citing worries for her safety and a desire to avoid causing controversy, she is anticipated to remain in the United States.
