Prince Harry was compelled to stay at a hotel after his request to Windsor Castle was “rejected by Royal Family
Instead than staying at a formal royal house, Harry is expected to remain at a hotel when he returns to the UK for an Invictus Games event next week, according to sources.
On May 8, Harry will return to his native country to speak at a ceremony commemorating the tenth anniversary of the Games at St. Paul’s Cathedral.
Many have speculated that the Duke of Sussex might meet his family while in the UK, an idea that is especially intriguing considering the cancer diagnoses that King Charles and Kate Middleton received this year. However, according to the Daily Mirror, no high-ranking royals will be present at the aforementioned event.
Readers may recall that in the summer of 2023, Harry and Meghan Markle lost their UK residence, Frogmore Cottage, due to an eviction by King Charles. The Sussexes are rumoured to have avoided going back to the UK as a family ever since that change in circumstances, with Harry and Meghan reportedly being concerned about their safety once it became apparent that they would be responsible for arranging their own security for any future visit.
Harry’s father was diagnosed with cancer shortly after his most recent trip across the Atlantic, but that encounter between father and son was short-lived. Harry’s request to remain at Windsor Castle was reportedly turned down, so he ended up staying in a hotel in London.
But even though the prince has more time to prepare before Harry’s trip to London, it’s likely that he will once more stay in a hotel. Wife Meghan Markle has decided to stay in the US in order to get ready for their unofficial tour of Nigeria, therefore she will not be travelling with him. Harry might be feeling the weight of his family’s absence, says Charlotte Griffiths, Royal Editor of the Mail on Sunday. “It’s a very significant aspect of Harry’s personality, and the kind of thing he would want his spouse and possibly his children to support him with,” she said.
Meghan is leaving him there by himself, and I have a feeling that he will paint a very lonesome picture of a man who is without his family, friends, or senior members of the Royal Family. And he wasn’t there with his wife either.
It’s interesting to note that earlier this week, sources stated that King Charles wanted to see his son once again and that “reconciling” was perhaps a possibility. “The King has always kept the door open to Harry, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that he would get a warm reception,” royal analyst Richard Fitzwilliams told The Sun newspaper. “It will take its time,” he continued. But it’s obvious that things have altered dramatically in the last several weeks.
Depending on how you define reconcile, I don’t think it would be too difficult. I believe that Harry won’t be taking Meghan and the kids over anytime soon.
