The father who killed his daughter, age 10, gets assaulted in prison
Global anger was sparked by the horrific and dark murder of 10-year-old Sara Sharif, and her father, Ufran Sharif, admitted to killing his little daughter in a cruel manner. However, Sara’s death as a result of the “campaign of torture” is not the end of the story.
The tragedy’s specifics are extremely unsettling. Behind jail, “word quickly got around about who [Ufran] was,” and other prisoners took matters into their own hands by ambushing the “sadistic” child killer. When the story of Sara Sharif, a clever and affectionate 10-year-old girl, made headlines on August 8, 2023, the world was devastated.
Before her body was discovered at the family home in Woking, Surrey, the young girl “was hooded, burned, and beaten during a ‘campaign of torture’ that lasted two years,” the BBC reported. Authorities discovered Sara in a bunkbed with a confession letter that was written by her father and said, “Whoever sees this note, it’s me Urfan Sharif who killed my daughter by beating.” I am fleeing because I am afraid.
He said, “I swear to God that my intention was not to kill her,” before revealing that he would “be back before the postmortem.” But I snapped. The fact that Sara’s father and two other family members left for Pakistan the day before her body was discovered is also startling. After a weeks-long worldwide manhunt for those involved in her horrifying murder, Sara’s stepmother, 30; father, 42; and uncle, 29-year-old Faisal Malik, were replaced
Sara suffered almost 70 injuries, according to the court, including burns from a heating iron on her buttock, a puncture wound to her skull, 11 fractures to her vertebrae, injuries to her fingers, shoulder blades, and ribs, and bite marks from others. The three have denied any participation since the arrest, but Urfan changed his story in court and acknowledged that “she died because of me.”
Batool was given a life sentence with a minimum of 33 years in jail and Sharif was given a life sentence with a minimum of 40 years on December 17, 2024. Mr. Justice Cavanagh characterised their acts during sentence as “a campaign of torture,” stating that “the degree of cruelty involved is almost inconceivable.” Malik was found guilty of causing or permitting a child’s death and given a 16-year prison sentence. A statement from Olga Domin, Sara’s birth mother, was read out in court.
“But even this word is not enough for you,” she claimed, referring to the three suspects as “sadists.” You are executioners, in my opinion. She continued by saying to her daughter, “She is now an angel who looks down on us from heaven.” Violence is no longer affecting her.
After being imprisoned, Sharif had to deal with the harsh realities of life among seasoned criminals. It is often known that killers and prisoners adhere to a strange code that abhors crimes against children.
Stories about Urfan’s crime spread inside the prison walls, making him a marked man, and his reputation as a child killer sealed his doom. According to a source who spoke to the Sun, “Sharif has tried to keep his head down” since arriving in HMP Belmarsh in South London, also referred to as Britain’s Guantanamo Bay.
However, word soon spread about his identity.Even though the other inmates are there for horrible crimes, many of them dislike those who harm children, thus the inmates were unhappy that he was there with them. Two inmates who “were sickened by his abuse of Sara” ambushed Ufran with a jagged tuna can lid on New Year’s Day, only weeks into his life sentence.
Two other people hurried into Urfan’s cell and severely cut him up. They utilised a homemade weapon, fashioned from the lid of a tuna tin, and it was prearranged. When the child killer survived the attack, an informant told the publication, “He was sliced in the neck and face and is still in healthcare and in a very bad way.”
He had to undergo stitches and would always have scars as a memory of the attack, but he was fortunate to live. He clearly had a target on his back after the case made headlines, so the guards made an effort to keep him safe.
“Something like this was always on the cards, and an attack was probably only a matter of time,” the source continued. Many of them are claiming that a more worthy man could not have been the recipient.
According to recent allegations, convict Steve Sansom, who is serving a life term for the 2024 murder and dismemberment of 38-year-old Sarah Mayhew, is one of Ufran’s attackers. Sansom was also found guilty in 1999 of killing 59-year-old taxi driver Terrence Boyle. What do you think about the prison attack on Ufran?
